Welcome to Out & About Literacy, a new online series created by a qualified English teacher.

These courses have been made to enable parents to deliver literacy through fun activities, that will help to develop literacy skills.

First up, is a free mini course: Lockdown Literacy.

There are three activities in the series, all about learning to create and use anagrams. There are video tutorials, printable and downloadable PDFs and explanations provided to simplify or complicate each task, depending on your child's ability.

By the end of the course, you’ll be equipped with techniques to broaden your child’s vocabulary choices through play and the know-how to tailor the activities provided to your child.

Curiosity is key. Meet the teacher.

Although my name is Kelly and not Alice, Alice in Wonderland resonates deeply with me, because I believe life is better when we become "curiouser and curiouser."

I've been working with young people and teaching English since 2007. I recently completed an MA in Travel and Nature Writing and love being outdoors, walking and engaging with the world around me.

Out and About Literacy unites my passions for language, culture and the environment. It exists to empower you to become confident at delivering literacy outside the confines of the classroom, in a fun and dynamic way.

"My kids don't have a clue I'm teaching them anything! Kelly's activities are informal, fun, and ideally suited for us to be out and about in the fresh air together. "
